Description: When the Cloud interface is enabled for Commerce Engine, for cloud-based POS / PMS deployments, a cloud icon will be displayed in the Android status bar, indicating whether or not the Commerce Engine application is successfully connected. This allows you to visually confirm and quickly check whether your device is connected to the cloud service.
Troubleshooting
- When the cloud interface is enabled and Commerce Engine successfully connects to the Shift4 cloud service, the successful connection icon is displayed.
- When the cloud interface is enabled and Commerce Engine cannot connect to the Shift4 cloud service, the fail to connect icon is displayed, and a notification (yellow banner) indicates the “Need to connect.”
If there is a connection error within your network, you need to troubleshoot with your own IT Team first. Please visit the Commerce Engine Connection Test Tool article for steps to troubleshoot network connectivity, ensuring that Commerce Engine can connect to essential systems.
If there is a failure to connect to Shift4 (cloud-to-cloud), the Shift4 Payments Support Team should be engaged to assist with troubleshooting.
Note: When Commerce Engine is used for on-premise POS / PMS deployments, the cloud icon does not apply and will not be displayed on the device.
