All card transactions fail with ‘1 - Chip Malfunction.’
What is causing this issue?
The customer is inserting the chip card incorrectly. If inserted incorrectly 3 times, the Glass Device will failover to use the Magnetic Strip on the card, and this could potentially be swiped backward.
How do I resolve this issue?
- Insert the EMV card correctly.
- When looking at the SkyTab Glass touchscreen, the chip should be facing away from the customer, so they cannot see it before inserting it.
- When looking at the number pad, the chip should be facing toward customers so they can see the chip before inserting it.
Solution (Mag Strip)
- When looking at the SkyTab Glass touch screen, the magnetic strip should be facing away.
- When looking at the number pad, the magnetic strip should be strip up/facing the customer.

Most customers look at the device's Touchscreen (or the opposite side, as shown in images). To successfully run cards, they should insert chips/swipe mag strip opposite as shown.
