Pay Out Tips From a Cash Drawer With Reporting on SkyTab POS

Important: This procedure is only intended for use for locations where tip pay outs from cash drawers need to be specifically tracked. Do NOT use this process if you are not certain whether SkyTab POS has been configured to track pay outs, as it could result in overpaying tips to staff.

When SkyTab POS has been configured to count credit card tips as part of the expected cash in the drawer, you can pay out the tips in cash from the drawer by using this process.

The steps in this process are designed to provide an extra layer of reporting data to track cash payments of tips to employees.

Before paying out tips, ensure the employee no longer has any open tickets or pending tip adjusts.

1. While logged into the SkyTab POS station with the cash drawer from which you will pay out tips, press the Drawer button (located at the bottom of the screen on the Ticket Grid).
   
2. Press the Cash Out button on the Drawer dialog.
   
   
   Important: While the Tip Pay Out button essentially performs the same function, reporting on its use is limited to till activity records. You will be able to locate these transactions more quickly using Cash Out if you need to review them.
   
   
3. From the Reasons list on the left, select Tip Out.
   
   Important: If you do not see this option or something with similar wording, the configuration on your SkyTab POS is not complete.
   
   
4. Enter the amount of credit card tips only using the number pad.
   
5. In the Comments field, type in the employee's name.
6. Press OK when you have entered all of the necessary information.
7. Review the information on the screen showing the drawer balance, then tap OK.

Note: It is possible to have a drawer balance showing a negative number, as shown in the example. This means that you owe more cash tips than you have cash in the drawer.
