Description: Learn how to set up the Q25 PIN Pad for a SkyTab POS workstation installation.
Q25 PIN Pad
- Once the PIN Pad is scanned in, it will automatically build a file in PAXSTORE.
- Connect an internet network cable to the red Ethernet port and connect a PAX power supply to the terminal (SP30 power pack works fine).
Tip: If worktable space is limited (think large orders), connect an Ethernet cable between the multipurpose hub and the red PIN pad Ethernet port. For power, connect the USB power cable to a USB port on the multipurpose hub and the PIN pad.
- The download should start automatically. If it does not, refer to the Start The Download Manually section below.
Start The Download Manually
To start the download manually:
- Enter the Main Menu:
- For new PIN Pads, press the Enter key.
- For refurb PIN Pads, press the Menu key. (To the right of the down arrow key)
- If prompted for a password, enter the password (today’s date) in the following format: MMDDYYYY.
- Go to System Settings > App Management.
Tip: Use the arrow keys to show additional menu options. - If prompted for a password, enter today's date in the format MMDDYYYY.
- Select Activate > Online. It will now connect to the server and confirm if the file has been built. If the file is built, it will say Activated. Press the red X key twice to go back to the app load screen.
- Select App Update. This will prompt the PIN Pad to connect to the server and begin the download.
Set The Network Settings On The PIN Pad
- Once the PIN Pad has completed downloading, touch Agree to accept the end user license agreement. The PIN Pad will now boot to the home screen.
- Press the Menu key to access the main menu.
- Enter the password (today’s date in MMDDYYYY format).
- Press the down arrow, then select COMM Settings.
- Enter the password.
- Press the down arrow, then select LAN Parameters.
- Select LAN Type, then Static.
- Back on the LAN params screen, select IP Address.
- Enter the IP address, then press the green enter key. The first PIN Pad IP address will be 192.168.213.220, the second 192.168.213.221, third 192.168.213.222. etc...
- Select Subnet Mask.
- Enter 255.255.255.0, then press the green enter key.
- Select Gateway IP.
- Enter 192.168.213.1, then press the green enter key.
- Press the down arrow and select DNS Mode.
- Select Manual.
- Press the down arrow and select DNS IP.
- Enter 008.008.008.008
- Press the down arrow and select DNS IP 2.
- Enter 008.008.004.004, then press the green enter key.
- Press the red X key repeatedly to return to the Home screen.
Configure POS to Communicate With PIN Pad
- Select PIN Pad at the top of the screen.
- Touch the dropdown menu for Payment Device and select External PIN Pad. Touch OK
- Touch in the PIN Pad IP Address field, delete what is currently entered and enter the IP address of the PIN Pad.
- Confirm the PIN Pad is on the Home screen, then select Test Connection on the POS. The PIN Pad will display a Test Successful message.
- Touch Save at the bottom right corner of the screen.
- Repeat this on each POS for each PIN Pad.
- Once each POS system has a PIN Pad configured to it, touch the Back button located in the upper left corner of the screen. Then touch Order.
