Description: Learn how to process transactions in Activate Classic using either cash or credit cards.
How to make a Cash Transaction
- Log into Activate and;place items into the cart.
- Select the Cash/Credit button below the shopping cart when ready to pay.
- Activate will prompt you to choose a suggested cash amount based upon the order total or you can enter in a custom amount.
- Once you select or enter the amount, select Finalize Payment for the cash drawer to pop.
- The Thank You! screen will appear with the exact change amount.

How to make a Credit Transaction
- Log into Activate and place items into the cart.
- Select the Cash/Credit button below the shopping cart when ready to pay.
- Swipe or insert the credit card into the credit card terminal.
- If the swipe/chip is not successful, type in the card information by selecting on the dot below the total.
- If tip is enabled, the customer can select a suggested tip or enter a custom amount.
- If a digital signature is required, the customer will sign on screen before finalizing.
- The 'Thank you!' screen will appear when the transaction is successful.
Note:
- When the credit chip is enabled, the cards must be inserted into the Chip reader.
- Tip, signature, and payment options are configured in the Employee Roles.
- If using FreedomPay/Ingenico card readers, you may be prompted to manually enter card information on that device instead of within Activate.
- Use a moderate speed when swiping. If you swipe too fast, the reader will not be able to pick up the information on the magnetic strip.
