Activate Classic - Different Payment Types for Appetize

Description: Appetize allows for a variety of payment types to be used, including Cash, Credit, Gift Cards, Contactless Payments (NFC), and RFID (wristbands).

It also allows for Split Payments, Open Checks/Tabs, On the House, Quick Checkout, Codes, and Discounts.

Note: Each payment type can be blocked/enabled in the Terminal Roles on the Payments tab.

Cash

Once item(s) are selected and placed into the cart, click the Cash or Cash/Credit button. Activate will display possible cash amounts to select or enter in a custom amount by clicking 'Custom.'

Credit

Once item(s) are selected and placed into the cart, click on the Credit Card or Cash/Credit button (if using an Ingenico card reader, the card can be swiped without selecting the payment option). After selecting the option, swipe the card through the reader. If the card information was captured, the next screen will confirm the successful transaction.

Note: If the card will not swipe, the card's information can be manually entered (card number, expiration date, and cardholder's name) by tapping the 'Card Number' area.

Other Payment Types

While Cash and Credit are the most common payment methods, several other options can be utilized in the Activate setup.

 

Once the options are enabled, they can be accessed by selecting the More button under the cart.

 

Gift Cards 

 

The prepaid stored-value money card is used like a regular Credit Card. Once item(s) are selected and placed into the cart, click the Cash/Credit button and swipe.

 

Contactless Payment (NFC) 

 

Contactless payment, also known as Near Field Communication (NFC), allows two devices (like a terminal and a mobile device) to talk to each other to make payments without needing a physical credit card (Ex: Apple Pay, Android Pay, etc.). Use the Contactless payment option in Activate to complete NFC transactions.

 

RFID (Wristbands)

 

Some music festivals and venues use Radio-frequency identification (RFID) devices for easy payment and checkout. Similar to contactless payments, RFID allows customers to pay without having a physical credit card or cash. They attach their payment information to the wristbands before the event and purchase merchandise, food, and drinks by scanning them. 

 

1. To use the wristband as a payment method, add items to the cart and select More to see the available payment options.
2. Select Wristband and advise the customer to place the wristband against the reader. Once the transaction is complete, the Thanks screen will appear.
