Description: Review the process of changing the IP address of an Epson TM-m30 remote thermal printer below. This troubleshooting generally occurs if there is a connectivity issue on the printer or if a setting regarding printer networking needs to be updated.
By default, remote printers are configured under DHCP. In this example, the DHCP address the printer picked up automatically is 192.168.89.37 from the router. To change this:
- Open the Start Menu and navigate to EpsonNet > EpsonNet Config.
- Double-click the intended printer to load the Device Properties screen.
- Navigate to Basic under TCP/IP.
- Switch to Manual (static) from Automatic.
- Change the printer’s IP Address to 192.168.213.201.
- Change the default Gateway Address to 192.168.213.1.
- Click the Transmit button to finalize and send the new settings to the printer.
A quick loading screen for this process displays, and the printer reinitializes, then the blue LED light on the front panel of the printer flashes for about 15 seconds.
When the blue LED light is done flashing, the printer is ready for testing. At this point, you can open a command prompt window where you can run a ping command to its IP address (ping 192.168.213.201).
This should complete successfully. When it does, you can then point the remote printer within the POS software to this remote printer IP address which should also test successfully.
