Description: Review how to use the barcode scanner with the SkyTab POS system as well as two different scenarios in which the barcode scanner can be used.

Scanning Items
You can add items to an order by scanning the barcode in SkyTab POS.
Setup
- Navigate to Manager > Settings > Menu > Items > Advanced.
- Add the ITEM UPC either by scanning it or entering it manually. This can ONLY be done on the POS system itself.
- Select Save to commit the UPC to the selected menu item.
Usage
To use the barcode scanning feature:
- Log in to the POS system.
- From the grid view, start a new order.
- Scan the barcode(s) of each item to add them to the order.
Scanning Guest Checks
Scanning guest checks are useful for locations that have a high volume of tickets and want to pull up tickets by scanning the barcode on the guest check.
Setup
- Navigate to Manager > Settings > Hardware > Printers.
- Enable Print Barcodes on Kitchen Slips checkbox for all the receipt printers.
- Select Save to commit the changes.
Usage
Printed guest checks now have a barcode printed at the bottom. Customers can present the guest check to the server, and you can scan it to open the ticket.
Note: This only works with open tickets. Completed tickets do not pull up on a scan.
Scan Gift Card QR Codes
If your location uses a scanner, you will now be able to scan a Gift Card QR code to enter the card number.
This function should work in the following places:
- Order Entry > Check Balance
- Order Entry > Load Gift Card
- Payment > Gift Card
- Payment > Gift Card > Check Balance
