Select an Order Type
The Order Type refers to how the customer will receive their order, such as Dine In, Bar, Pickup, Delivery, or Online Ordering.
- If a default order type is not set for your job, you’ll be prompted to select one when creating a new ticket.
- If Force Selection is enabled, the system will require you to choose an order type when you start a new ticket.
Order Type Rules (Examples)
Order type rules may vary by configuration. Examples include:
- Dine In: Requires a guest count.
- Bar: No special rules applied.
- Pickup: Requires a name on the ticket.
- Delivery: No special rules applied.
Order types can be customized and may vary based on your business setup.
Change the Order Type
- Log in to SkyTab Air and tap the current order type (for example, Dine In) shown in the upper left corner of the screen.
- Select a new Order Type.
You can update this at any time before completing the ticket.
Enter a Ticket Name
The ticket name is used to uniquely identify the order, making it easy for staff to find and manage the order.
Enter a Custom Ticket Name
- Tap Ticket Name dropdown at the top of the Ticket Details pane.
- Enter a Custom Ticket Name and tap Save.
Assign a Table
Assigning a table number ensures accurate delivery and efficient service in dine-in settings.
- Tap the Table icon in the upper right of the Ticket Details pane.
- Tap a table from the list or tap "Skip" if you choose not to select a table.
Add Items to the Ticket
Start building the order by selecting menu items.
Add Items
- Tap an item to add it to the ticket.
- To search, tap the search icon on the right and enter the item name in the search bar.
- Tap the desired item and continue to search and select more items or tap Done Searching.
Send Options
Available Send options depend on your job’s default Send Tickets Action.
Send & Stay
Sends selected items and keeps the ticket open.
Use when:
You want to send part of an order (such as appetizers) while continuing to enter additional items.
Send & Continue (Default)
Sends the order and returns to the Ticket Grid.
Use when:
The order is complete and ready to be prepared.
Send & New
Sends the current order and immediately opens a new ticket.
Use when:
You need to start a new order right away after sending the current one.
Send & Logout
Sends the order and logs the current user out of SkyTab Air.
Use when:
Working at a shared station, you want to ensure activity is attributed to the correct employee.
Once sent, items route to any connected remote printers, such as a kitchen printer. The ticket remains accessible for adding items or collecting payment later.
Reopen a Ticket
After submitting a ticket, you’ll see your list of current open tickets.
To reopen a ticket:
- Double-tap the ticket to open it, or
- Select the ticket and tap Open.
