Adopt ChefXML KVS to Printers Section of Hospitality

Navigate to the Printer Management Screen

1. Select Manager from the main screen.
   
2. Select Printers from the Manager screen.
   

Setup the Printer’s Configuration Settings

1. Select one of the unused printers and click Edit. If no unused printer is available, create a new printer slot.
   
2. Rename the printer to Video 1.

1. Ensure that Group Separators are set to Nothing.
2. Ensure that Print Void Slips is selected (turned on).
3. Ensure that Lock Printer Adoptions is selected (turned on).
   
4. Verify that the printer name in Hospitality matches exactly what is displayed in ChefXML.
   
   Now you will need to assign items to it as you would with a normal Hospitality printer.
5. Press the Items button in the top-right, then add all of the items to print on the Video screen here.
6. Click OK to save all of your configuration settings and proceed to adopt the printer.
   

Adopt the Video 1 Printer to the Brain Terminal

1. Select the Video 1 printer slot you just set up, then press Adopt (the KVS should only be adopted on the Brain terminal only).
2. Check to make sure the IP address used for the KVS is set to 127.0.0.1. This is the local loopback address.
   • The terminal reads this IP address as “This Computer.”
3. Make sure "Has a Paper Cutter" is not selected.
4. Set the Printer Speed to Epson Thermal (TM) for best formatting.
5. Check the box for Send XML in the upper-right corner of the screen so the system will not send any orders to the KVS screen.
   
6. Press OK to save the configuration of the adoption screen to the Hospitality database.
   
7. Check the printer poll frequency is set to 3000 ms on each Workstation’s command line and the --no-printer-status toggle is in place.
