Description: Learn how to adopt the ChefXML KVS to the Printers section of the Hospitality software.
- Select Manager from the main screen.
- Select Printers from the Manager screen.
Setup the Printer’s Configuration Settings
- Select one of the unused printers and click Edit. If no unused printer is available, create a new printer slot.
- Rename the printer to Video 1.
- Ensure that Group Separators are set to Nothing.
- Ensure that Print Void Slips is selected (turned on).
- Ensure that Lock Printer Adoptions is selected (turned on).
- Verify that the printer name in Hospitality matches exactly what is displayed in ChefXML.
Now you will need to assign items to it as you would with a normal Hospitality printer. - Press the Items button in the top-right, then add all of the items to print on the Video screen here.
- Click OK to save all of your configuration settings and proceed to adopt the printer.
Adopt the Video 1 Printer to the Brain Terminal
- Select the Video 1 printer slot you just set up, then press Adopt (the KVS should only be adopted on the Brain terminal only).
- Check to make sure the IP address used for the KVS is set to 127.0.0.1. This is the local loopback address.
- The terminal reads this IP address as “This Computer.”
- Make sure "Has a Paper Cutter" is not selected.
- Set the Printer Speed to Epson Thermal (TM) for best formatting.
- Check the box for Send XML in the upper-right corner of the screen so the system will not send any orders to the KVS screen.
- Press OK to save the configuration of the adoption screen to the Hospitality database.
- Check the printer poll frequency is set to 3000 ms on each Workstation’s command line and the --no-printer-status toggle is in place.
--poll-frequency 3000 --no-printer-status
