Overview

Menu allows you to create and manage items that can be added to transactions. You can manage menu items directly on the device or sync menu items from Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM).

Note: Menu must be enabled in Settings before it can be used. For steps on enabling Menu, visit the Shift4 One Settings Guide.

Menu Types: Remote vs Local

Shift4 One supports two menu management options:

Remote Menu

Remote Menu syncs menu items from Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM). This allows you to pull in a full menu or specific menu items that have already been created. Items can still be added or removed directly on the device if needed.

Local Menu

Local Menu uses the menu stored on the device. All menu items are created, edited, and managed directly on the device.

Using Remote Menu

View Remote Menu Items

1. Select Remote.
2. Select Items to view menu items synced from LBM.
   

If the device is syncing successfully, your menu items and pricing will appear.

If you see the error “Unable to sync. Try again later”, the device is not currently syncing with LBM, and the menu will not load.

Create a New Menu Item (Remote)

1. Select Create New.
   
2. Enter the following required fields:
   
   • Item name
   • Item price
   • Tax type (percentage or flat)
3. Select Done to publish the item.

To discard an item before publishing, select the trash icon and confirm Discard.

Edit or Delete a Remote Menu Item

• To edit an item, select the item and update the fields.
• To delete an item, select the item, select the trash icon, and confirm Delete.
  

Using Local Menu

View Local Menu Items

1. Select Local.
2. Select Items to view your local menu.
   

Create a New Menu Item (Local)

1. Select Create New.
   
2. Enter the following required fields:
   
   • Item name
   • Item price
   • Tax type (percentage or flat)
3. Select Done to publish the item.

To discard an item before publishing, select the trash icon and confirm Discard.

Edit or Delete a Local Menu Item

• Select an item to edit its details.
• Select the trash icon and confirm Delete to remove the item.

Reorder Local Menu Items

1. Select the edit (pencil) icon.
   
2. Drag and drop items using the parallel line icon to change their order.
   
3. Select Done to save the new order.
