What is Order with Google (OwG)?
Order with Google is a feature that lets your customers find your restaurant on Google Search and Google Maps and place an order directly through your Online Ordering storefront. When someone searches for your restaurant and taps "Order online," your storefront appears as an option — and can be set as the top, preferred choice.
Do I need to do anything to set this up?
For the most part, no. Order with Google is automatically activated when your Online Ordering is enabled. However, to ensure your storefront appears in Google results and is set as your preferred provider, a few configuration steps are required. For setup instructions, visit the Enable Order with Google for Online Ordering article.
Why isn't my restaurant showing an "Order Online" option on Google?
If your restaurant isn't showing ordering options on Google, check the following:
- Your Google Business Profile isn't verified
- Your restaurant name, phone number, or address doesn't match exactly between your Google Business Profile and your Shift4 account
- Online Ordering isn't enabled on your Shift4 account
- Your Online Ordering URL hasn't been added to your Google Business Profile, or Shift4 hasn't been set as your preferred provider
For setup instructions, visit the Enable Order with Google for Online Ordering article.
Will my Online Ordering storefront show up above DoorDash and Uber Eats?
Yes, when you set Online Ordering as your preferred provider in your Google Business Profile settings, your storefront appears at the top of the provider list and is labeled "Preferred by business," making it the most visible option for customers.
Can I still keep DoorDash or Uber Eats listed on Google?
Yes. Google may display multiple ordering providers. Setting Shift4 as your preferred provider doesn't remove other providers from the list — it simply ensures yours appears first and is highlighted, driving more traffic to your direct channel.
Are there any commissions or fees for orders placed through Order with Google?
No. Orders placed through this integration go directly to your Online Ordering storefront. Standard Online Ordering rates apply — no additional per-order commissions are charged for being listed on Google.
What will my customers see on Google?
Customers searching for your restaurant will see ordering buttons (Order Online, Order Pickup, Order Delivery) directly on your Google listing. When they tap one, they'll see a list of ordering providers. Your Online Ordering storefront will appear in that list — at the top and labeled "Preferred by business" if configured as preferred. They'll then be redirected to your storefront to complete the order.
Will my menu appear on Google?
Google may display menu highlights and sections based on your Online Ordering configuration and Google indexing. For the richest menu display — with structured categories, item photos, and descriptions — you can optionally enable Structured Menus as part of the integration.

What is the difference between Order with Google (Redirect) and Order on Google (End-to-End)?
Order with Google Redirect means the customer discovers ordering options on Google but completes the transaction on the merchant's Online Ordering storefront. The customer is redirected out of Google to complete checkout. Order on Google End-to-End (a separate product) keeps the entire ordering flow within Google itself.
Is this a new integration Shift4 had to build?
Yes. Shift4 built the Redirect integration with Google to enable this flow. Shift4's Online Ordering storefront is now registered as an ordering provider in Google's food-ordering ecosystem. When a merchant has Online Ordering enabled, their storefront becomes eligible to appear in Google's provider panel.
Which merchants are eligible?
Shift4 merchants with Online Ordering enabled. The merchant must also have an active, verified Google Business Profile with contact information that exactly matches their Shift4 account (name, phone number, address).
Does the merchant need to take any action to activate this?
Order with Google is automatically enabled when Online Ordering is turned on. During onboarding, verify that the merchant's Google Business Profile is active and verified, their Online Ordering URL has been added to their profile, and Shift4 has been set as their preferred ordering provider. Confirm that the restaurant name, phone number, and address match exactly between the Shift4 account and the Google Business Profile.
What optional enhancements can merchants enable?
Merchants can optionally add Structured Menus (menu categories, item names, descriptions, photos), ETA & Fees metadata (real-time estimated delivery time and fee information), and Conversion Tracking (to measure Google-sourced orders). These are recommended but not required for the core Redirect functionality.
How do orders flow into the Workstation?
Once a customer completes checkout on the Online Ordering storefront, the order is processed exactly like any other online order and routes directly to the merchant's Workstation. There is no separate order injection or middleware required.
What happens if a merchant's info doesn't match between Shift4 and their Google Business Profile?
The merchant's storefront will not appear in Google's ordering results. The restaurant name, phone number, and address must match exactly between the Shift4 account and the Google Business Profile. Sales and onboarding teams should verify this during setup.
Is there a charge to Shift4 for participating in the Google Redirect program?
No, there is no direct charge to Shift4 for this program.
What support resources exist for merchants who need help?
Merchants can find setup guidance in the Shift4 Knowledge article Enable Order with Google (OwG) for Online Ordering. For Online Ordering configuration issues, merchants should contact Shift4 Support. For Google Business Profile questions, merchants can visit Google Business Profile Help.
