Overview
GlobalTips is a QR-based ordering, payment, and tipping platform that integrates with Shift4 Dine. Guests scan a QR code to browse your menu, place orders, pay, and leave a tip from their mobile device. Orders are sent directly to Shift4 Dine.
GlobalTips can:
- Sync menu items, prices, descriptions, modifiers, and availability from Shift4 Dine
- Support QR-based ordering, payment, and cashless tipping without requiring a mobile app
- Support configurable tip payout and distribution settings
- Forward guest reviews to Google Reviews and collect guest feedback
- Support automatic menu translation into multiple languages

Before You Begin
Confirm the following before starting:
- Shift4 Dine is active at your location
- You have admin access to Marketplace
- Your Shift4 Dine menu is complete, accurate, and up to date
- You have a GlobalTips account (visit global.tips or contact GlobalTips at support@globaltips.io to get started)
Important: GlobalTips uses Shift4 Dine as the source of truth for menu data, including item names, prices, descriptions, modifiers, and availability.
Before activating GlobalTips, verify that your Shift4 Dine menu is complete and accurate. Incomplete items, missing descriptions, or unpublished categories will affect the guest-facing menu until corrected in Shift4 Dine.
Step 1: Install GlobalTips from Marketplace
- Log in to the Customer Hub.
- Select Marketplace.
- Search for GlobalTips.
- Select Install on the GlobalTips app page.
- Complete the installation process.
After installation:
- GlobalTips receives the installation callback and provisions the connection.
- You are redirected to the GlobalTips platform to complete account setup.
- GlobalTips begins syncing menu data from Shift4 Dine.
- Menu items, pricing, modifiers, and availability become available in GlobalTips.
- No new hardware is required.
Step 2: Configure Your GlobalTips Account
- Log in to your GlobalTips account.
- Navigate to Appearance and configure venue branding.
- Navigate to Menu and verify your menu has synchronized correctly. Select Check for update if a manual synchronization is required.
- Navigate to Tips and configure tip collection and payout, and distribution settings.
- Navigate to Users and configure staff access for tip monitoring and reporting access.
- Navigate to Payments and review supported payment methods (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard).
Step 3: Configure QR Codes
- Navigate to QR Codes.
- Generate QR codes for each table.
- Download and print QR code stickers.
- Place QR code stickers at the appropriate tables.
Each QR code links guests to the ordering, payment, and tipping experience for a specific table. GlobalTips recommends placing stickers at the corners of tables for easy guest access.
Step 4: Configure Menu Languages (Optional)
- Navigate to Menu.
- Under Menu Languages, select Add.
- Select the languages you want to support.
GlobalTips automatically translates menu item names and descriptions into the selected languages.
Step 5: Test the Integration
- Scan a QR code and verify the menu loads correctly.
- Confirm menu items, pricing, availability, and modifiers match Shift4 Dine.
- Place a test order and verify it appears in Shift4 Dine.
- Complete a test payment and confirm the transaction processes correctly.
- Update an item's availability in Shift4 Dine and verify the change appears in GlobalTips.

No. Guests access the menu, ordering, and payment experience through their mobile browser by scanning a QR code.
Will GlobalTips replace Shift4 Dine or change how my team works?
No. GlobalTips provides a guest-facing ordering experience while continuing to use Shift4 Dine for order management. Orders are sent directly to Shift4 Dine and existing workflows remain unchanged.
How does the Google Reviews integration work?
GlobalTips can forward guest reviews to Google Reviews based on rating criteria configured by the platform. Lower-rated feedback is available within GlobalTips for review.
