Description: Learn how to set up specials by day and shift in POSitouch and how to restrict an item's availability on terminals during a specific day or shift.

Allow Special Price Change for an Item
- From the main menu, select Back Office Setup > Restaurant Misc Data > Specials.
- Select Add.
- Choose the start and end dates, and the specific days and shifts that the special will be available. In this example, this special will only be active from 2:01 PM to 4:00 PM until Wednesday, March 24, 2027.
- Select either the Item number of the special or the Major and Minor category to include all items within that group.
- Select either Use Price Level or Override Price.
Price Level is determined in the properties of the menu item based on the price level selected.
Override Price will allow the manually entered amount to determine the cost. - Enter the name of the special in the Description field and select Save.
- From the back office main menu, select Immediate System Change.
Select Continue.
Restrict Item Availability by Day
- From the main menu, select Back Office Setup > Restaurant Misc Data > Specials.
- Select Add.
- Turn on Restrict Availability; this will restrict the days or shifts that an item can appear on the POS. Choose the start and end dates, the specific days and shifts that the Single Taco special will not be active. In this example, it will only be active on Wednesdays through March 24, 2027. Fill in an optional Description and select Save.
- From the back office main menu, select Immediate System Change.
- Select Continue.
Restrict Item Availability by Day and Shift
To restrict item availability by both day and shift, two specials must be added - one to accommodate the day and one for the shift. To do so, we'll create the day availability followed by the shift.
- From the main menu, select Back Office Setup > Restaurant Misc Data > Specials.
- Select Add.
- Turn on Restrict Availability; this will allow users to restrict the days or shifts that this item is available. Select the start and end dates, and the specific days and shifts that the Single Taco special will not be available. In this example, the special will only be active on Wednesdays until March 25, 2027.
- Fill in an optional Description and select Save.
- Now, it's time to add the second special to accommodate the shift portion of the item availability. From the Specials menu, select Add.
- Turn on Restrict Availability; this will restrict the days and/or shifts that this item can appear. Choose the start and end dates, and the specific days and shifts that the Single Taco special will not be active. In this example, it is only active from 11:01 AM until 12:30 PM. All days are selected and, since Wednesday would normally see the item all day based on the first special, availability is now limited to just 11:01 AM to 12:30 PM on Wednesday. On the other days, this special was not seen for all shifts. Fill in an optional Description and select Save.
- From the back office main menu, select Immediate System Change.
- Select Continue.
