Description: Coursing in SkyTab POS allows you to time the kitchen slip of a selected menu item. This allows the kitchen to properly prepare and present the items for delivery to the customer’s table. Fine dining locations often use this.

Coursing Tab
- To implement, navigate to Manager > Settings > Menu.

Select the Coursing tab at the top right.
- On this screen, you see the Courses already created listed on the left side of the screen.
- To create a new course, select Add New in the lower-left corner of the screen.
- To edit an existing course:
- Select the course from the list on the left side of the screen.
- Make the proper adjustments.
- Select Save to commit the changes.
Coursing Tab Terms
Active: Toggle to the right to activate the course or to the left to deactivate.
Course Name: Enter the name of your course; this will not display on the order screen.
Place items on hold automatically: When this is checked off, an item from this course will automatically be placed on hold.
Departments Assigned to Course: Select Tap to Edit to determine which departments are assigned to this course; tap on a department on the left (unassigned) to add it to the list on the right (assigned).
Items Assigned to Course: Select Tap to Edit to determine which items are assigned to this course; tap on an item on the left (unassigned) to add it to the list on the right (assigned).
- If a Department is selected, all items in the department are automatically assigned to the course.
- If no Department is selected, select Edit to manually enter individual items into the course.
Edit Course List Order
To edit the order where the Courses appear on the Order Entry Screen, select Edit List at the bottom left to view the Edit List Order dialog box and highlight the department you wish to relocate to.
- The middle arrows move the department up or down one position.
- The first and last arrows move the course to the top or bottom of the list.
- Select Save when complete.

Coursing works independently of the Order Type. If coursing is assigned for an item or department, it will take priority regardless of the order type.
- Create a new ticket on the Order Entry screen.
- Select an item that has been assigned to a course from the menu.
- If the item has Place items on hold automatically enabled, it is automatically put on hold.
- Select Send to complete the ticket and print out a kitchen split for the un-held items.
- On the Order screen, a timestamp appears next to each item to indicate when it was sent to the kitchen printer.
Move an Item Off Hold
When the item is ready to be sent to the kitchen, it needs to be released as follows:
- Highlight the item(s) that needs to be sent to the kitchen.
- Select Unhold Item(s).
- Select Send or Take Payment to send to the kitchen printer.
Delete or Remove Coursing
Note: SkyTab POS software is not capable of deleting or removing Coursing from the menu once it is in the POS system. The only way to remove or delete Coursing from the menu is by making it inactive.
To deactivate the Coursing, proceed with the following steps:
- Navigate to the Manager > Settings > Menu > Coursing. Select the Coursing that needs to be deactivated from the left side menu by pressing on it.
- Slide the Active toggle OFF on the top middle of the screen.
- Press the blue Save button at the bottom right corner.
