Description: Review the steps below to install the Epson TM-m30 thermal printer to the Echo system. This process is virtually plug-and-play, but there are settings this document explains.
Physical Installation
The Epson TM-m30 thermal printer uses an A to B USB Cable in conjunction with a two-part power cable (power brick and A/C cable). This physical installation will vary whether you are setting up a receipt printer or a kitchen printer:
Receipt (Local) Printer
For receipt printer connected to the terminal:
- Connect the A to B USB cable to the Echo and M30 printer.
- Connect the power brick to the printer.
- Connect the A/C cable to the power brick and a power source.
Once connected, load the paper into the printer and select the Power button to turn it on.
Remote (Kitchen) Printer
- The power cord and an Ethernet cable will be used for this function.
- The power cords come in two pieces, connect them together then to the system
- Plug the printer into a wall outlet.
- Connect an Ethernet cable from our router to the back of the printer.
Once connected, load the paper into the printer and select the Power button to turn it on.
Software installation
Local Printer Setup
To get to the Local Printer Setup screen, go to Manager > Settings > Hardware Settings and select the first option in the list on the left, Local Printer Setup.
- Line Spacing (Single, 1.5x, or Double): allows you to have the lines of text on the printed receipts be further apart
- Enable Print Remote Slips to allow the local printer to print kitchen receipts instead of just to a Remote Thermal Printer.
- This option can also be used if you would like to have additional slips printed out for tracking or other purposes.
- You can also choose whether or not to Print Void Slips from the printer
- Selecting Test Print in the lower right corner will send an example copy of what the receipts will look like based on the options selected
Remote Printer Setup
Once the printer is installed properly, go to Manager > Settings > Hardware Settings > Remote Printer Setup to complete the installation:
-
IP Address: Tap Scan Network at the top to tell the terminal that there is a remote printer and look for an IP Address to populate into the box.
- It may take a moment to populate
- Cut Receipt: If you want each receipt to be cut at the end of the order, toggle Cut Receipt to Yes
- Text Size: The Text Size drop-down will give you the option to select a size option between Normal, Wide, and Large
- Line Spacing: If you would like to have the lines of text on the screen be further apart, you need to choose a different Line Spacing option, such as Single, 1.5x, or Double.
- Print Void Slips: You can also choose whether or not this printer will receive a slip to notify the recipient that an order has been voided.
- Test Print: Allows you to print a test slip to look at the changes you made
