Description: This article covers the steps needed to be completed in order to properly install the new PAX hardware for the updated HT-Retail and POSPayGate software. The following are covered in this article:
Important: These steps should be completed only after an update to the latest version of HT-Retail and POSPayGate has been completed.
For information on creating the file for these orders, visit the File Build Guide for HT-Retail.
You must be onsite with the PAX device to perform the steps below. Then, check for an available Ethernet connection for the PAX device.
Networking Setup
If an Ethernet cable is not in place to be directly plugged into the PAX device, a switch can be used in unison with an installed POS terminal (see below):
- If the above is necessary, use the included power cord to power on the TP-Link switch near the POS system.
- Take the Ethernet cable out of the POS and connect it to the first port on the left of the TP-Link switch.
- Once the switch has internet connectivity, use the two included Ethernet cables to connect the PAX device and the POS to the TP-Link switch.
- Connect the Pax SP30 itself using the steps below
If you receive an error on the HT-Retail system stating "100010 CONNECT ERROR COM ERROR," this means that the Router needs to be restarted. For more information regarding this error, visit the 100010 Connect Error Com Error (HT-Retail) article.
PAX Setup
Below are the steps to use when you are installing the PAX SP30 PIN Pad to be used with the HT-Retail POS system.
- Plug the power cord into the power cord port on the PIN Pad and then into the wall outlet.
- Plug an Ethernet cable into the red LAN port on the PAX SP30.
- Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the TP-Link switch (or TP-Link router if a port is available).
Be sure the switch is plugged in and that the first port on the left is connected directly to the TP-Link router.
