Description: At the end of the business day or per shift, depending upon how often an owner or manager chooses to conduct register audits, the drawer should be opened and closed out to review and record any tender discrepancies. Failing to close the register will not affect any funding, for the PIN Pad will autobatch daily. Review the functions and reporting commonly used for these procedures.
Settings
To enable drawer counting:
- Go to Back Office under Settings > Company Settings > Company tab (Register Settings).
- Then toggle on Enable drawer count.
- Then SAVE. This by standard is enabled by the programmer but could have been accidentally turned off by another individual.
Start of Day
Before taking payments on the system, enter the starting drawer amount:
- Select the Options icon in the lower-left corner of the ticket (below Charge).
- Open drawer is chosen when adding the till into the system.
-
- You have the option of either entering the amounts via cash denominations on the left column or the total drawer amount on the right.
-
- Once an individual count or total count is entered, select OPEN DRAWER to record count and open the cash drawer.
*If the drawer count is not entered at the beginning of the day, Open Drawer will prompt when selecting Charge on the first transaction.*
Drawer Entry
Drawer entries are for conducting cash pay-ins and pay-outs, to record what is non-sale based so that the register knows the appropriate amount of cash that will be expected in the drawer for the end of day.
For example, remove cash from the drawer to pay a vendor or purchase supplies. In some circumstances, salons will pay out tips to the service providers by cash, regardless if the tip was originally tendered as cash or card.
To record a drawer entry, select Options > Drawer entry in Register.
Select the appropriate function as needed:
- Cash In - Take cash in
- Cash Out - Take cash out
- No Sale - Open drawer without recording any pay in or out

Tips
In a salon or business that accepts tips on the POS, knowing the tip totals is essential for end-of-day tracking to ensure the employees are paid appropriately.
How to record tips can vary, depending upon how the business operates, which will delegate which functions are used in the POS. To enable tipping functionality, see Enable and Apply Tips in Salon & Spa.
POS Feature
If the employee who rings out the customer is always their service provider, the Auto-assign salesperson/service provider should be turned on in the POS under Settings > Features. This feature provides ease of tracking commissions and tips (if the PIN Pad is set to prompt for tip).
Manual Tip Entry and Tip Splitting
Once all items and services are applied to a transaction, the customer should be asked what tender type they will use to complete the sale. This determines how the system will apply the tip.
If a customer received multiple services from separate providers, the customer should be asked if each provider will be receiving a tip and to what amount, so those tips can be specified in the system in Options > Tips.
- From the Options button on the bottom of the screen, select Tips.
- A list of all employees will open to the right of the transaction. Tap on the employee who the customer would like to tip and enter a dollar amount.
- If more than one employee is tipped for one transaction, select the next employee to be tipped and apply the amount.
- Once everyone is tipped accordingly, select Done. If this is completed correctly, you should see your transaction total change.
Tip Prompt via the PIN Pad
**This method is for only ONE employee receiving a TIP** If more than one employee is being given a tip, you must apply the tip amount beforehand per the above instructions.
From the credit card terminal - to configure or adjust the tip prompt for the SP30, see Adjust Tip Hints on the SP30 for the PAX Store.
- Once the PIN pad is set up, select Credit/Debit Card as your tender type, then the SP30 will prompt the customer if they would like to add a tip.
- Select 2. Yes (to apply the tip).
- The following screen will ask what amount the customer would like to add, 15%, 18%, 20%, or custom.
- Simply select the amount, and the system will add that to the transaction.
End of Day
- On the bottom left side of the screen, click the Options button.
- Select Close Drawer from the drop-down box.
- The Close Drawer screen opens with all of the information about the day’s transactions.
- Enter the full drawer count on the left side, or just enter the total drawer amount in the upper right.
- Scroll to the bottom and select Print Z-Out Report And Close Drawer or Close Drawer if a print is not desired.

On an X Report, the system provides information on drawer entries, sales, taxes, and discount totals.
