Drill To
Business Intelligence (BI) grid reports allow you to drill into detailed levels by selecting any row in the report.
When you click a row, a Drill To context menu appears with available detail options for that report.
Example
If the Discounts report is grouped by Store:
- Select a specific store’s row.
- A list of Drill To options appears, such as:
- Discount Type
- Reasons
- Employees
- Serving Periods
- Ticket Detail
- Other available options
- Select one of the options.
The report will refresh to show data for the selected store, grouped by the option you chose.
When using Drill To, the report is filtered to the row you selected.
For example, drilling to Discount Type from Store #1 displays only Store #1’s discounts, grouped by Discount Type.
Group By
While Drill To focuses on a specific row, Group By changes the overall organization of the entire report.
When you open a report, it loads with a default grouping.
Example
The Discounts report opens grouped by Store by default.
To change the view:
- Select Group By.
- Choose one of the available grouping options, such as:
- Discount Type
- Employee
- Serving Period
- Other available options
The report will refresh and reorganize all displayed data according to your selection.
When using Group By, the entire report view changes.
For example:
- Changing Group By to Discount Type groups all stores’ discounts by type.
- Changing Group By to Employee groups all stores’ discounts by employee.
Using Group By and Drill To Together
Using Group By and Drill To together allows you to move from high-level summaries to detailed transaction data within the same report.
Example Workflow
- Set Group By to Store to see total discounts by store.
- Identify the store with the highest discounts.
- Select that store’s row and Drill To Discount Type.
- From there, you can further Drill To Employees, Serving Periods, or even Ticket Detail.
This allows you to move from enterprise-level summaries down to individual ticket details without running separate reports.
