Description: Learn how to use the Locations/Groups filters and the Criteria (Group By and Drill To) features in Business Intelligence (BI) reports.
Locations/Group Filters
Locations/Groups filters apply to your entire Business Intelligence (BI) session and affect every report you view.
Set Up a Location or Group Filter
- In BI, open a report.
- Select Locations/Groups.
- Choose a specific Location or create/select a Group.
- Select Set to apply the Location or Group filter.
Once set, all reports will display data only for the selected Location(s)/Group(s).
Example
- Select Locations/Groups.
- Set the filter to Store #1.
- All reports will now display data for Store #1 only.
To return to viewing all locations:
- Select Locations/Groups.
- Select Clear Filters.
Important: Locations/Groups filters remain active for your entire session until cleared.
Criteria Form (Group By and Drill To)
The Criteria form allows you to customize how data is displayed within a specific report.
To access:
- Select Criteria within the report.
Group By
Use the Group By dropdown to determine how you want the data organized.
Examples include:
- Store
- Daypart
- Hour
- Other available options
Drill To
After grouping your data, use the Drill To options to refine or narrow your results further.
The combination of Group By and Drill To allows you to analyze your data in greater detail.
How Criteria Work
- Criteria settings apply only to the report you are currently viewing.
- They do not carry over to other reports.
- Each report has its own independent criteria settings.
Example
- Open the Sales Summary report.
- Set:
- Store: Store #1
- Group By: Hour
- Daypart: Lunch
The report displays data based on those selections.
If you then open another report, such as Sales Mix:
- The criteria reset.
- The report displays all stores and default settings.
Key Difference:
- Locations/Groups filters apply to all reports during your session.
- Criteria settings apply only to the individual report you are viewing.
