Description: Review how to set up a local printer on the Echo POS system below. The base package for the Echo POS system comes with one local printer per terminal purchased. The Epson TM-M30 is the current model being shipped.
Internal note: It’s very similar to the model that came before it, Seiko SII RP-D10.
For a closer look at the other hardware-related settings, visit the Hardware Settings article.
Physical Installation
- To begin the installation, place the printer at its permanent location so that you do not have to move it once it’s been set up.
- Remove the bottom cover of the printer.
- Connect the power supply to the local printer and then to the power port. The power indicator will be lit on the front of the printer when it has power.
- Connect the USB cable to the local printer by first connecting to the printer (next to the power supply) and then to a USB port on the back of the Echo POS system.
- Connect the cash drawer to the jack located under the printer’s serial number.
- Power on the local printer using the power button on the front.
Local Printer Settings
On the Echo system, navigate to Manager > Settings > Hardware Settings and select the first option in the list on the left, Local Printer Setup.
- If you want to adjust the space between lines of text, you may choose different Line Spacing (Single, 1.5x, or Double) to suit your needs.
- Enabling Print Remote Slips allows your local printer to print kitchen receipts instead of just a Remote Thermal Printer. This option can also be used if you would like to have additional slips printed out for tracking.
- You can also choose whether or not to Print Void Slips from the printer.
- Make sure you have paper in the printer before selecting Test Print in the lower right corner. Test Print will send an example copy of what the receipts currently look like based on the options selected.
- Be sure to press Save in the upper right corner to keep all current printer settings.
