Description: Learn how to set up whether a PIN device will request input on the card type for debit or credit on a Universal Transaction Gateway (UTG) activated device below.
UTG Below 3200
To enable the choice, you must edit the settings on the terminal file in Transaction Manager.
- Log in to Transaction Manager as an Administrator or a user with EMV Device Access.
- Navigate to Settings > EMV Devices.
- Scroll down to the EMV Terminal Settings and enable or disable US Common Debit as needed:
- Enabled: When a card is inserted, it will only process as U.S. Common Debit, and the user will not be given a choice on the device.

Disabled: When a card is inserted, the user will be given a choice on how to process the payment for either U.S. Common Debit (True Debit) and typically an AID for the brand of card that is inserted (Visa Debit, MasterCard Debit, etc.) this only works if the EMV Chip Card is loaded with Multiple Application ID's (AID).
- Select Save/Apply at the bottom of the page. Perform a Perform an EMV Terminal Download on Universal Transaction Gateway pull the settings to the device.
