Option 1: UTG TuneUp
This method permanently changes the language of all of the screens on the device. There is no way to do this through the PIN Pad and must be changed via the Universal Transaction Gateway (UTG).
- Log into the Administrator profile of the POS.
- Stop the Shift4 UTG Service.
- Start UTG TuneUp under Start > Shift4 Corporation > UTG (v2) TuneUp.
- Click the Devices tab.
- Double-click the existing device or click and press Edit to the right.
- The Default Language selection is found under Additional Options on the Edit Device page. Select the desired language and press OK, then Save on the main page to commit the changes.
- With the setting changed, perform a forced reboot on the PIN Pad by holding the pound (#) and Back button for three seconds. This is helpful for any issue that requires a reboot or download to the PIN Pad. The PIN Pad downloads the changed setting and reconfigures itself with the new language.
Option 2: On the PIN Pad (Temporary)
This method temporarily changes the language displayed for the current transaction only. This can also be enabled by a customer if the PIN Pad is customer-facing, as this option is only available once a transaction has been initiated from the POS.
To send the request to the PIN Pad:
- Complete a credit transaction on the POS as normal.
- Once the Insert, Swipe, or Tap screen is shown, press F2 to change Language.
- From here, you can change to one of three languages:
- F2 - French
- F3 - English
-
F4 - Spanish
- After selecting the new language, the Swipe, Insert, or Tap screen displays in the chosen language. Once the transaction is completed, the PIN Pad reverts back to the default language.
