Description: Learn how to complete the Focus POS / Shift4 configuration for a Quest Tablet (Augusta Reader setup).
Things you will need.
- The latest version of Shift4 UTG which can be found here: https://www.shift4.com/downloads/utg2setup.exe
- The location’s serial number
- The location’s zip code
- An open slot to use
Note: For best practice, the slot number should match up to the Location’s Station Number.
First, install the latest version of UTG and run UTG (v2) TuneUp (which should automatically open up after you install it).
In the Express tab, fill out the following entries:
- Serial: The location’s serial number provided by Shift4.
- Slot: This slot number should typically match the Location’s > Station’s list for the position it’s in.
- Host Address: This is typically the loopback IP of 127.0.0.1; however, use your local dealer’s info that you type in for normal Shift4 installs if not using 127.0.0.1
- Location: This is the zip code for the location.
Once you've completed the Express tab, proceed to the API Interfaces tab.
When on the API Interfaces tab, select Add and select TCP/IP just like you would when installing it on a terminal.
On the API Interfaces tab, fill out the Host Address and Port fields at minimum.
- Host Address: This typically be the loopback as well 127.0.0.1, but use your local dealer’s info as you would normally do on a Shift4 install for this field.
- Port: The Port should be 17476.
Note: The numbers in the picture below are used as an example.
After this step, save and launch the UTG (v2) Stand Alone. Once the Stand Alone looks as follows, move into the steps needed in Focus.
For additional information on starting or stopping Stand Alone, please visit Start or Stop Stand-Alone Mode for Universal Transaction Gateway.
Setup the Reader Type on Focus:
- Log into Setup on Focus.
- Navigate to Location > Stations.
- Once there, highlight the station you're working on.
- Select the EMV Options tab.
- Under the section "Reader Type," check the box for "Augusta Reader."
Once you've finished the necessary steps, the Quest Tablet is set up and ready to use with Shift4.
Notes:
- Make sure you've already created a package to take EMV Credit Card Payments.
- Confirm Stand Alone, or the Shift4 service is running before testing.
- When taking payment, the chip should be facing AWAY from the device.
Note: When putting the credit card into the device, the user should be looking at the mag strip. If you get a DECRYPT Error, the chip is facing the incorrect way.
