Description: Revenue classes allow you to group items together with similar tax requirements to simplify the sales process and keep track of taxes for accounting purposes. Add a new revenue class in Hospitality with the steps below.
Revenue Classes
To access this section of the POS:
- Select Manager in the upper right corner of the Order Entry screen.
- Select Menu > Revenue Class (the screen will default to Menu Items):
- To add a revenue class, select New at the bottom of the screen.
- To edit an existing revenue class:
- Select the revenue class from the list on the right side of the screen.
- Press Edit at the bottom of the screen to open the Edit Revenue Class window.
- Make the desired changes to the revenue class.
- Select OK when complete to commit the changes.
Edit Revenue Class
Options to edit include:
- Name of this Revenue Class: Descriptive name that allows you to easily identify this revenue class.
- Class is Liquor for tax purposes: Classify the revenue class and all items therein as liquor.
- Items in this Revenue Class are Gift Cards: Classify the revenue class as Gift Cards. If the items within this revenue class are considered to be gift cards, you MUST select this option.
- Items in this Revenue Class are non-sales revenue for accounting purposes: Classify the items within this revenue class as items that should not be counted as profit or sales when used.
- Include in Customer Favorites: Display each customer’s most commonly used revenue classes on their profile. You can also select the top number of items from the revenue class that will show.
- Taxes applying to this revenue class: Select the preprogrammed taxes that are attached to this revenue class by tapping the box, selecting the appropriate tax, and selecting OK.
- Include in Tip Out Report: Display a chosen percentage of gross sales on each employee’s personal shift report. This is used for restaurants that allow tip sharing between employees. Harbortouch does not attempt to track or record the flow of tips between individual employees and will provide relevant information only.
- Include in Gratuity Calculation: This option determines whether or not this revenue class tax will be included within the gratuity calculations that occur.
