Description: Item Groups are groups of menu items and are useful to set the price of many items in one place, control the order that items print to the kitchen, simplify reporting, and enable Coursing in Hospitality. Add and edit an Item Group in the Hospitality system using the steps below.
Item Groups
To access this section of the POS:
- Log in to the system with your four-digit PIN.
- Select Manager in the upper right corner of the Order Entry screen.
- Select Menu > Item Groups (the screen will default to Menu Items):
- To add a new Item Group, select New at the bottom of the screen.
- To edit an existing item group:
- Select the item group from the right side of the screen.
- Press Edit at the bottom of the screen to open the Edit Item Group window.
- Made the desired changes to the item group.
- Select OK when complete to commit the changes.
Reorganize the Item Groups
The order in which the item groups are listed on the right is how they display within the rest of the system. This also determines the order in which items within these groups are sent to the printer (Print Order). To reorganize them:
- Select the item group you would like to reorder.
- Use the arrow buttons on the far right of the list to move the item group up or down.
- You can also select ABC to place the item groups in alphabetical order.
Editing the Item Group
Editing options for item groups include:
- Name of this Item Group: Enter a descriptive name so you may easily recognize this item group in reporting. Item groups do not appear on the Order Entry screen but may have names similar to the screen categories, such as Appetizers, Salads, or Entrees.
- Price of Items in this Group: Determine the default price of items that are added to this item group. All menu items in an item group are given a default price that can be overridden when entering specific menu items.
- Course Group: Choose a course group to control in which courses item within this item group will be placed. Choose None for items that will not be included in the courses.
- Default Course: Choose the default course for items within this group; it must be a member of the course group chosen above. If you prefer to choose a course every time an item is ordered, choose None.
- Price Level: Set a price level for the preprogrammed menu item choices within an item group. To select, tap on the price level box to see the available choices, make your selection, and select OK.
- Customize: Change the default prices of choices once the Price Level is chosen. Select OK when complete.
