Conditions for Entering Offline Payments Mode
- SkyTab will monitor the status of the Internet connectivity and immediately enter Offline Payments mode when the Internet is disconnected.
- If a disruption occurs or an error is returned during the payment process, SkyTab will prompt the user to Try Again. At this point, the system will go into offline payments mode to complete the payment. By tapping "Retry," a user is returned to the credit payment flow, and the payment will be captured immediately offline.
- If a user experiences a long processing time, the onscreen message while attempting to process will adjust at set intervals to reassure them the attempt to process is ongoing.
- “Payment is taking a little longer than usual, please wait” appears after 6 seconds.
- After another 10 (16 total) seconds, the message “Still trying to complete the payment, please wait” appears.
- “Trying the payment one last time, please wait” appears.
- After 40 seconds, the payment screen is dismissed, and a user is returned to the take payment screen.
Once returned to the payment screen, the system checks to ensure there are no duplicate payments before prompting the user to Try Again. At that point, the system goes into offline payments mode to complete the payment.
Operating in Offline Payments Mode
- When operating in Offline Payments mode, a user will see the indication of Offline Payments active next to the Notification Center. Note that the Notification Center icon color may vary depending on the severity of any ongoing disruption. Please visit the Notification Center Operational Status Feature for more information on these states.
- When Offline Payments is active, users will see a banner in the Take Payments reassuring them that operations can continue. This eliminates any need to open the Notification Center for clarification, ensuring no disruptions to ongoing operations.
- Customer Display: Note that Customer Display will not process offline transactions. If SkyTab is in Offline Payments mode, the user will be notified to ask the guest to present their card for processing on the SkyTab workstation or PIN Pad.
- Additionally, the long processing time messages will be presented to guests viewing the Customer Display to reassure them that the transaction is attempting to process.
- If an error occurs during the payment process, the SkyTab user is prompted to collect payment from the guest to process offline on the SkyTab workstation or PIN Pad.
