Micros Simphony – Cash Tender Rounding by RVC
- Open EMC.
- Select a Revenue Center.
- Under the Configuration tab in the Sales column, open Tender/Media.
- Select Options, then move to the Ops Behavior tab.
- Enable Option 87 in Amount Options for it to start rounding to the nearest .05.
- Then, if downward rounding is preferred, enable option 97.
- Select Save.
Micros 3700 – Tender Rounding
In Micros 3700, rounding is typically configured at the Tender level.
To enable tender rounding:
- Open Configurator. By default, the Sales page is displayed.
- Go to Tender/Media and select the tender.
- Enable Tender Rounding.
Micros 3700 – Total Due Rounding
To enable total due rounding:
- Open Configurator. By default, the Sales page is displayed.
- Navigate to the Revenue Center tab > RVC Posting.
- Choose a revenue center. Go to the Options tab.
- Enable Total Due Rounding.
- Select Save.
Important: Clearing this option displays tender amounts to the lowest currency denomination (for example, pennies).
Warning: Tender rounding should not be used with credit cards. Credit authorizations are always sent as unrounded amounts, while the final tendered amount may be rounded. This can result in unbalanced reports.
Best practice: To avoid authorization and reporting issues, configure rounding at the Revenue Center level instead of the tender level when credit cards are used.
Micros e7 – Tender Rounding (.05 Support)
In Micros e7, rounding is also configured at the Tender level and supports rounding to the nearest .05.
- To enable rounding, open Configurator.
- Open Tender configuration.
- Enable Tender Rounding.
- Select Round to Nearest 5 to round to the nearest 0 or 5.
- (Optional) Configure Rounding Digit.
How the rounding digit works:
- The rounding digit determines which digit is evaluated and changed to a 0 or 5.
- Digit counting starts from the rightmost digit of the currency, regardless of decimal placement.
Note: Clearing the rounding options causes amounts to round to the smallest currency unit (for example, the penny).
Important Considerations
- Rounding behavior differs by POS and configuration level.
- Total Due Rounding affects the displayed amount due but not posted revenue.
- Tender Rounding can impact authorizations and reporting if used with credit cards.
- Always validate rounding behavior in reports after enabling or changing settings.
