Driver Summary Screen
The Driver Summary screen is accessed by logging in to the system and selecting Admin > Driver Summary from the main screen.
Review reports relative to Delivery Drivers in this section. The report will show the times they left for a delivery and the times they arrived back from a delivery. It will also tally the amount of money the driver should have collected from these deliveries, less any driver reimbursements you may have configured in the software.
Once you click on Driver Summary, you will see a list of the drivers that have made deliveries during the current business day. In this example, we only have one driver. Once you’ve clicked on the driver, you are brought to that driver’s report.
Individual Driver Report
Below is a copy of the Driver Summary report. On the right side of the screen, you will see several options. In this report, “Drops” – (negative) and “Banks” + (positive), Payment Information, Settle Driver, Print Report, Print Tips Report, Cash Tip Entry, and Calculator.
- Drop: When a driver has more cash on them than needed or desired.
- If a drop is made, you will see that it subtracts the amount of money that the driver owes the restaurant.
- A drop is then subtracted from the driver’s total due restaurant since he/she has already removed that money from his/her person.
- Bank: When the driver does not have enough cash, then the restaurant will need to give the driver money or what’s known as a “bank.”
- This will be reflected as an addition to the money owed to the restaurant because you have added more money to the driver’s original amount.
- Payment Information: This is a report which will show all of the payments (or sales) associated with all delivery orders.
- Here, a user may enter tips on credit cards or view the payments receives thus far.
- Settle Driver: This button is used to settle your driver and mark the driver’s transactions as finalized.
- Any cash-due restaurant or cash-due employee can adjust the cash drawer of the station the driver is settled under based on the system settings for this option.
- Print Report: This button allows the user to print the driver’s report on the local receipt printer.
- Print Tips Report: This button allows the user to print the driver’s tip report on the local receipt printer.
- Cash Tip Entry: This button allows the user to log the cash tips associated with that driver’s current shift, to be cataloged with their shift, and report for tracking purposes.
- Calculator: This button brings up the virtual calculator allowing the user to do some math without needing a physical one
- This is nothing more than a quick shortcut in the event that the user needs to run some numbers and has no other means of doing so.
How to Settle a Driver and Close the Shift
The last important tab on this screen is the Settle Driver button. This will close out the Driver Summary report and is required before the End of Day can be done.
After selecting the Settle Driver button, you are prompted with a warning that this will close all of the driver's checks. It is important to know that the message alerts you that you cannot adjust any of the Credit Card sales or tips associated with this driver’s shift. Therefore, entering the driver’s tip first is required. Otherwise, you will need a Credit Card Request Form.
By default, any money that is due to the restaurant is migrated into the cash drawer of the terminal that you are using to settle the driver. Adversely, if the driver is owed money by the restaurant, the money is pulled from the cash drawer of the terminal that you are using to settle the driver. If you do not want the money to catalog on the cash drawer, you will need to adjust the System Settings associated with the Driver Drop to the Cash Drawer.
Pressing Yes confirms you wish to proceed with driver settlement and displays a message indicating the amount of money the driver owes or is due that will be added to or removed from the cash drawer respectively. If you wish to proceed, press Yes to adjust the Cash Drawer. If you have disabled the setting which adjusts the cash drawer when settling a driver, you will not see this message.
Once completed, a message will appear, letting the user know the driver has been successfully settled.
That driver will no longer show up underneath the Driver Summary screen. This indicates that the driver’s shift has been settled for the day (or shift), and the money has been distributed correctly.
How Paying Cash Tickets In-House Affects Driver Summary Report
If you assign a delivery ticket to a driver for delivery and then close that ticket out as Cash, it will affect the driver’s report negatively. The driver’s summary report will NOT show that sale listed in the log of sales. Instead, the payments for these tickets are reported to the bottom portion of the report for “Other Payments.”
Overall, all cash payments for delivery tickets should not be added to the system or marked paid. Leave all cash payments on delivery tickets marked “unpaid” until you are ready to settle your driver. Once you’ve settled your driver, all tickets assigned to that driver that is left unpaid/open will be automatically closed to cash.
