What is causing this Issue?
Every Echo POS system is sent out with a Stainless Steel Cash Drawer. The issue of the cash drawer not opening can occur if the drawer is locked or the settings are incorrect.
How do I resolve this Issue?
Cash Drawer Plugged into Printer
- If you have a key:
- Make sure the Cash Drawer is unlocked. Unlock the drawer and select TEST on the testing screen to make sure that it opens.
- If you don't have a key, contact support.
Internal:
If the merchant doesn't have a key:

- Place a swap for the Cash Drawer key.
- Make sure you get the code on the lock of the Cash Drawer before placing the swap.
- Go to Manager > Settings > Hardware Settings. On this screen, verify that Cash Drawer is toggled to YES. Then, test the drawer on the testing screen again.
- Go to Manager > Settings > General Settings > Manage Tenders. Choose CASH > Open Cash Drawer and set to YES.
- Swap the Cash Drawer.
Cash Drawer Plugged into Terminal
- Plug the Cash Drawer into the printer before testing it on the testing screen.
- If you have a key:
- Make sure the Cash Drawer is unlocked. Unlock the drawer and select TEST on the testing screen to make sure that it opens.
- If you don't have a key, contact support.
Internal:
If the merchant doesn't have a key:
