Eligibility and Access
Who can use Shift4 Loyalty?
Shift4 Loyalty is available to eligible merchants using SkyTab POS and SkyTab Lighthouse Business Manager (LBM). Availability may vary by merchant type, region, or contract.
Are there prerequisites to enable Shift4 Loyalty?
Yes. Merchants must have access to SkyTab POS, LBM, and Marketplace to install and configure Shift4 Loyalty. Visit the Installation Guide for detailed requirements and steps.
Is Shift4 Loyalty included by default?
No. Shift4 Loyalty must be installed from the Marketplace in LBM and then configured before it can be used on SkyTab POS.
Installation and Setup
What happens after I install Shift4 Loyalty?
After installation, you must configure loyalty discounts in LBM, set up corresponding rewards and point accrual in the loyalty portal, enable Loyalty on SkyTab POS, and share the customer enrollment URL or QR code so customers can enroll and begin earning points.
Do I need to configure Loyalty in both Lighthouse and POS?
Yes. Loyalty requires configuration in multiple places. Loyalty discounts must be created in LBM, corresponding rewards and point accrual settings must be configured in the loyalty portal, and Loyalty must then be enabled on SkyTab POS for staff use.
Where can I view or manage loyalty discounts?
Loyalty discounts are managed in LBM under SkyTab Settings > Loyalty > Discounts.
Loyalty Rewards and Point Accrual
Are loyalty discounts created automatically?
Yes. When Shift4 Loyalty is installed, three default loyalty discounts are automatically created in LBM: $1 Off, $2 Off, and $5 Off.
Can I customize or create additional loyalty rewards?
Yes, you can modify the default rewards and create additional custom loyalty discounts in LBM, then link them to corresponding rewards in the loyalty portal.
Do loyalty discounts and rewards have to match?
Yes. Every loyalty discount created in LBM must have a corresponding reward configured in the loyalty portal, and the Reference Code must match exactly.
Can I change rewards or point accrual rules after launch?
Yes. Rewards and point accrual settings can be updated in the loyalty portal, which is accessed through LBM. Updates apply to future transactions only.
What happens to existing points if I change a reward or accrual rule?
Existing customer point balances are retained. Updates only affect how points are earned or redeemed in future transactions.
Customer Enrollment and Accounts
How do customers enroll in Shift4 Loyalty?
Customers enroll using a customer-facing enrollment URL or QR code generated during setup. Customers scan the QR code or open the link on their mobile device and complete the enrollment form. Once enrolled, customers can immediately begin earning loyalty points when added to a ticket during a transaction.
Can customers enroll directly at the SkyTab POS?
No. Customers cannot enroll directly at the SkyTab POS at this time. Enrollment must be completed using the customer-facing enrollment URL or QR code on the customer’s mobile device or computer.
Is customer contact information required for enrollment?
Yes. Customers must provide the required information on the enrollment form to create a loyalty account and track their rewards.
Can a customer have multiple loyalty accounts?
No. Each customer can have only one loyalty account per merchant.
Can customers update their information after enrollment?
Yes, customers can log into their loyalty dashboard and update their personal information, change their password, and manage their account settings through the Account and Security tabs.
What happens if a customer loses their temporary password?
Customers can use the password recovery option on the login page, or they can refer back to their enrollment confirmation email, which contains the temporary password.
How do customers check their points balance?
Customers can log into their loyalty dashboard anytime using the enrollment link, or staff can look up their account at the POS to show their current points balance.
POS Usage and Reward Redemption
How is a loyalty member added to a ticket?
Staff can add a loyalty member by selecting the Loyalty button on the order screen and searching by phone number, email, QR code, or loyalty card number.
When are loyalty points awarded?
Loyalty points are awarded when a loyalty member is attached to a ticket and the transaction is completed, based on the configured point accrual rules. To ensure accurate tracking, the loyalty member should be added before completing the transaction. Adding a loyalty member after checkout has started may prevent points from being awarded.
When and where can rewards be redeemed on SkyTab POS?
Loyalty rewards can only be redeemed on the tender/payment screen after all items have been added to the ticket. Rewards cannot be applied from the Loyalty Summary screen.
